Criteo collects or uses information for two different purposes: personalization of emails, and sending of emails on behalf of our advertising partners.
Personalization of emails
To personalize emails we collect and process browsing data through cookies or equivalent technical identifiers. A unique identifier is stored in your browser cookie.
These data are stored in a separate database that records:
- Events related to your activity on our partner's website (such as the number of pages viewed, the products you viewed on that website, categories of products)
- And events related to the Criteo Email activity such as the number of emails sent to you
We collect and process this information in order to increase the relevancy of the emails being sent to you.
At no point does Criteo Email store personal data, such as your name or address.
Sending of an email on behalf of our advertising partners
We collect a hashed version of your email directly from our partners (advertisers, publishers or list owners). This hashed version of your email is combined with a unique identifier, stored in a separate database. At no point can we identify you, nor derive your actual email address.
Only when we craft the email on behalf of our advertisers, we receive your name, surname and email address from our partners, should you have consented to receive their emails marketing. At no point are these identifying data stored by Criteo Email. Criteo Email deletes these data as soon as the email is sent to you.
The data we collect is also used for reporting purposes, and to give our advertising partners more information about the performance of their campaigns, and to improve performance over time.
We do not collect hardware-based identifiers such as UDID, Mac Address.
We do not collect sensitive information (such as religion, political opinion, health…).
We do not create segments to specifically target children under 13 years old.
We do not store and process any information, which could be used by Criteo Email to determine the personal identity of users.
We share information collected with our subsidiaries or affiliated companies. We share information collected for the purpose of sending the email with email routers. Other than the content of the emails, these data include name, surname and email address that are automatically deleted once the email is sent.
